How to Lose 25 Kgs in 2 Months Using The Power of Your Mind

Updated: Jul 24, 2019

About 8 years ago when I was a college student, I was at the cafeteria and a female classmate approached me asking “Can we use the power of our mind to affect metabolism for weight loss?” at which I thought to myself, and said out load, “why not !”, so I decided to do an experiment.

First, I thought to myself “what affects metabolism psychologically?”, the answer was obvious, Moods! Emotions have a big impact on our bodily functions (hormones), our eating habits, and other factors related to weight.

Secondly, I wanted to know what are the current “negative” emotions that are getting in the way of her metabolisms functioning in an optimum way. A trick that myself and other therapists use is to ask, “How do you feel about your body with this extra weight?”, to answer this question, they will go to their unconscious mind and identify the emotions associated with the extra weight. The girl said, “I hate it, I feel annoyed and irritated by it”. In which it was obvious that she has emotions of disapproval regarding the way she looks.

Most people think there must be a logical reason to why we feel a certain way, for example, “I’m angry because he cut me off”, But what about those who don’t get angry when people cut in front of them?

Sometimes we feel a certain way because it’s a habit, a reaction we adopted to protect ourselves or get our way around certain people. I explained that to her, and we created a plan.

She is to recreate a new habit in her psyche on how much she loves and adores different parts of her body, especially the ones she likes the least, for at least 10 minutes every day, and since I already mentioned that reasons do not always precede emotions, sometimes it's the other way around, emotions come first, then reasons come second. The more she’s able to feel great about herself and her body, the more the body will reflect that experience physically, by having the metabolism activity reach it's optimum level.

I met the girl two months after our session and she reported losing 25 Kgs (55 lbs.) after doing those simple steps. I asked if she coupled that with going to the gym or a change in diet, and she said she didn’t go to the gym, but she did notice her appetite for food shifting. A part of her was craving healthy food. There were rare moments where she craved some unhealthy food, but surprisingly she didn’t feel any guilt after having it, as if she knew she was on her way to a better place. She also reported having no extra skin and no stretch marks!

I think that the nicer you are to yourself by appraising yourself, and treating yourself well, your body will be more encouraged to perform better. And I also think that our minds and bodies can give us what we need, we just need to ask nicely.
